Our Mission and Goals
Wakefield Alliance Against Violence is a community-based organization dedicated to creating a lifestyle free from violence in Wakefield by reaching out to the community, raising awareness, providing education resources, and support to families and individuals, with an emphasis on prevention.
Wakefield Alliance Against Violence, Inc.'s long term goals can be summarized into two main outcomes:
- Reduce the incidence of family violence over time, with a focus on youth and domestic violence, by reducing risk factors, promoting protective factors, and changing norms around violence.
- Establish a collaborative, sustainable community partnership that coordinates and leverages violence prevention resources

Wakefield Alliance Against Violence, Inc.'s short term goals over the first 18 months of its existence (through June 30, 2000) have guided our activities since our inception in July 2007:
- Define, document and make known the problem of violence in Wakefield by completing and reporting a community assessment.
- Establish a communication infrastructure and to increase awareness of WAAV and the issue of violence in Wakefield
- Establish a development plan, budget, and mechanism for financial management.
- Establish a volunteer base and relationships with existing violence prevention providers that result in better access to resources and in learning opportunities.
- Implement/support at least one youth and one family violence prevention program/service.
